What is Stoney
Cove?
One of the best known diving places in
the UK. Stoney Cove boasts all the amenities
you could ever want including heated changing
rooms, bar restaurants, shop, and medical
centre. It needs all of this to cope with
the amount of divers visiting - approximately
50,000 every year !!!
Stoney Cove has a maximum depth of 35m,
and has shelves at 7m, and 20m, and is ideal
for training all types of courses. There
are three main entry/exit points. A slipway
you can stride/roll-in, the old wooden platform
providing a stride entry, or the recently
added long jetty. Once in the water there
are several items to see on the bottom,
including the Stanegarth - a 18m long steam
powered tug, a Wessex helicopter, nautilus
submarine, coach, jeep, Cockpit of a Comet
jet, and lots more
