The first club and training trip of the year
|
The first trip of the year was to Stoney Cove, and it was a great success. After an awful week's weather we were all hoping for a break which we fortunately got. Good weather always makes a dive trip more comfortable.
As well as club divers we had 6 Advanced Open Waters and two Wreck diver Specialties. In total 19 made the trip. (Two pulled out through illness, and two pulled out as they got a last minute bargain to Egypt - I find it hard to believe that people would prefer a week in Egypt to a weekend at Stoney Cove one of the world's premier dive sites!)
Some people came up on a Friday evening while some came up on Saturday morning which meant a 4.30 am start !! But it was worth it. Below you will see some pictures of the various people who made the trip and some of the fish and sights underwater.
During the evening we all had dinner at the hotel, which resulted in a really good fun evening. Highlight was undoubtedly John's birthday cake!!
The waiter brought over a birthday cake with candles etc. We told him that it wasn't ours and so he went away. He came back again a few minutes later adamant that we had ordered it!! As it was John's birthday earlier in the week we gave it to him and sang Happy Birthday. John was slightly embarrassed and a bit worried. He did however go along with it and duly blew out the candles and made a wish. At that point the waiter returned and took it away as he said he had made a mistake!! John was distraught!! Look at the pictures. He was so upset we had to get him a smaller version
