This was the first club dive of the season and due to the good weather all week we were all looking forward to a good days diving !!!
Once again the English weather and tides beat us!! While the weather was unseasonably warm, making it a pleasant trip the visibility was not good. Depending on which buddy pair you listened to the vis was either 1metre, or zero. I believe it was zero!! As well as being very green it was also very dark. The only time we saw the wreck or anything else of interest, was when we banged into it, and even then it wasn't easy to see. I was diving with John Wratten and due to the poor vis and the cold we gave up after 15mins.
Others had more luck and managed a full 30min claiming to see lots of things. mmmmmm !!
Depending on which website or book you read this is either a 65m trimix dive or a 20m recreational dive !! I can assure you we only got to 25m and we were on the bottom.
There is some confusion over which wreck this actually is.
As far as we can tell it sank in 1917. This wreck is upside down, but twisted and starting to split open with a large hole midships with access to engine room. Impressive stern section with huge prop suspended mid-water.
