Dry suit diving
is the perfect answer. Drysuit diving presents
some specific challenges, however it is
an option open to all Open Water certified
divers who seek quality training and wish
to stay warmer and more comfortable while
in our cooler waters. To answer the need
for this training, Sussex Scuba offers the
PADI Drysuit Course, an exciting program
taught by our qualified staff. Our course
covers drysuit diving techniques, emphasising
safety and emergency procedures, and will
ensure you enjoy your cold water diving
The program consists of one evening classroom
session and a pool orientation session.
Certification is completed by completing
two open water training dives. |
What
does the course cover ?
Basic thermal considerations and how you
get cold underwater- cold water physiology.
Comparison of dry suit options, advantages
and disadvantages of each type. Drysuit
construction, types of drysuits, zippers
and material. Types of seals and valves.
Insulation and undergarments. Hoods, collars,
dry gloves. Care, maintenance, storage,
packing and repair.
In the pool session we look at the correct
method of donning a dry suit, preparing
to dive, equipment evaluation and buoyancy
check, including procedures to prevent runaway
feet first ascents.
During the open water session, we practice
safe descents and ascents, equipment familiarisation,
emergency procedures for drysuit diving,
and assisting your dive partner
