Peak Performance Buoyancy (spec001)

Why Peak Performance Buoyancy?
If you want to fine-tune your buoyancy and soar over reefs, extend bottom time by reducing air consumption and prolong the life of your dive equipment, the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course is for you.

This specialty above all others will greatly improve your diving and therefore your enjoyment.

Diver with Manta Ray

Float effortlessly, drifting over reefs. Be the diver you want to be, with ultimate buoyancy control, able to hover close to the bottom and examine underwater organisms without touching them.

Mastering buoyancy control skills is often a frustrating and elusive task for many divers. You never really begin to truly enjoy your diving until buoyancy control becomes automatic and you can relax and start to interact with the world around you. Unfortunately it often takes 20-40 dives before this level is reached.
The Peak Performance Buoyancy course is designed to accelerate your progress and put you on the "fast-track" to mastering this important skill. You'll learn all the tricks and techniques to properly position and distribute your weights to best manage your centre of gravity and make hovering an effortless task. You'll find out how to modify your gear and body positioning to become a more streamlined and efficient diver. As these skills are implemented, you'll notice a big difference in air consumption, bottom times, and your ability to move in closer to aquatic life with confidence.
After mastering these skills, your buoyancy control will become automatic and you'll find you can concentrate on other things like taking pictures, exploring a wreck, or keeping track of your buddy!

What will I Learn during the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Course?

You'll learn how to ascend and descend so effortlessly, it seems like you only have to think about it and it happens. By mastering streamlining, you'll be able to move through the water cleanly, efficiently and gracefully. You'll find you can swim near fragile environments without harm to them or yourself.

This course is primarily practical in content, however there is a degree of academic study, which should be carried out both independently and with a video presentation and instructor led discussion. However, the focus of this course is on the practice and mastery of effective and good buoyancy control! It consists of two open water training dives.

The course normally runs over one day, dependant upon the dive site location and logistics. At the discretion of the instructor additional confined water training sessions may be required, prior to participants going to open water.

The pre-dive discussions will cover the following topics -

  • Fine-tuning buoyancy underwater.
  • Weight positioning and distribution.
  • Streamlining.
  • Visualisation.
  • Physical fitness and good buoyancy control.

Good buoyancy skills are what separate good divers from great divers. If you're interested in becoming a Wreck Diver , Underwater Digital Photographer or Underwater Videographer - the Peak Performance Buoyancy course is an essential part of perfecting your scuba diving skills in these other areas.

As already said many times good buoyancy is the key to good diving. It is also vital to taking good photographs without damaging nththe underwater environment. For this reason Sussex Scuba have combined these two course into a weekend special course that covers both aspects and allows you to develop your buoyancy while developing your photography skills. An extremely valuable course
