Why are they different?

Many of the adult courses are suitable for older children provided there is additional instructor support. However for younger children this is not the case. Despite being almost fearless in the water, many are slightly apprehensive when they are asked to breathe under water. However if the course is made into play, and with sympathetic instructors, children will also enjoy the underwater experience

Sussex Scuba offers two courses exclusively designed for children. Brief details are below and more details can be found by following the link. Both courses are designed for younger children and are based around "learning by playing." The kids are given manuals similar to adults but they are styled on cartoon, or children's book styles. Training videos involve kids and cartoon characters to make it more enjoyable for them to learn.

Obviously safety is a key issue and on both courses student to staff ratios are usually 2:1

All our staff have significant experience in working with children (see staff profiles here) and all have CRB clearance to work with children.

As well as offering courses we can also offer scuba parties for children. These are proving to be very popular as something different for the kids to enjoy
