Who are we?
The club was started just over three years ago and has gone from strength to strength. At the time of writing this (January 2008) the club has 80 members which is quite a staggering growth!!
The club is not affiliated to any training agency and as such we are free from all the usual rules and politics. The aim of the club is quite simple - our intention is to create a club open to any diver, regardless of who they they trained with. and that provides a venue to practice existing and new skills. We also aim to provide regular dives, UK trips and overseas holidays - given the success of al our trips we appear to have achieved this.
Hard boat dives
During 2007 we had a very successful series of dives that were enjoyed by everyone. The range of dives and divers was once again extensive, from the absolute novice through to hardened veterans. Everyone enjoyed the dives. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us last year and many dives were cancelled. The best dives all took place at the end of the year when the visibility improved tremendously. The new divers amongst the group were truly staggered at the visibility and abundance of marine life.
For 2008 all our monthly hardboat dives will be on Brighton Diver II, which funnily enough sails from Brighton. For more information follow the link in the table below. To have a look at some of the photographs follow the link in the side panel menu
Pool Night
Continues to be very popular, mainly with newly qualified divers and new club members. Attendance is around 30 per week though we have had more. For the people who don't make it regularly please remember it is a greta place to brush up on a few skills when you have had a long lay off
Club Night
During 2007 we also introduced a club social night every month in the Three Bells at Ashurst Wood. Attendance is around 15+ per week. It would be nice to see a few more faces in 2008
Trips for 2008
As well as the monthly hard boat dives, and the early evening mid week dives We have planned even more UK weekend trips for 2008. We are planning three UK weekends which as usual we expect to book up very quickly. Details on all of theses can be found by following the link in the table below. We are also planning two Red Sea Liveaboards and possibly another trip to Tenerife for later in the year
Social Events
As well as regular diving and holidays we are also planning a few social events, for the year the first events will a few 10 pin bowling sessions and we will also be repeating the beach barbecue from last year as this proved to be very successful.
As usual with all the above events, members will be advised by email. If events are not fully booked by members they will then be opened to non members |
